Letter From Shawforth: These changing times

Dear all

As I make, “…time to stand and stare”, it came to me that I was seeing my area of the world dressed as it were, in “the Emperor’s new clothes”.

No longer are the fields and trees, the stone walls or lamp posts dressed in their winter finery. They were stood stripped back to the natural state of being. Looking rather mundane, and boring. Waiting for spring to once again breath life into them.

There is a wonderful poem by the poet William Henry Davies entitled “Leisure”, the opening lines are “What is this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare…”. It has reached, I feel, that point in time where we should take literally the poem. To enjoy the changes in nature occurring around us.

Hope you join me?
